‘Inhuman’ Cloning Bill: Crunch Time
“With the cut and thrust of debate due to start today, the House of Representatives will be considering one of the most devastating bills of our time,” said the Reverend Hon Dr Gordon Moyes.
“It is crunch time for Senator Patterson’s ‘inhuman’ cloning bill.”
“Unless affirmative action is taken against this bill and our Federal MPs make a choice in favour of life, there will be no end to the massacre of human life. It is the beginning of the ‘slippery slope’ we thought we would never navigate, until now.”
“Our history books will be forever darkened if Senator Patterson’s ‘inhuman’ cloning bill gets a green light by the House of Representatives in the next couple of days.”
“Senator Patterson’s bill allows the creation of cloned human embryos solely for research, with their destruction mandated by law by the age of 14 days. Horrifically, the Bill also allows scientists to create human embryos where one of the parents is an aborted human foetus. Aborted baby girls then could become the ‘mothers’ of human embryos that would themselves be killed for research.”
The Senate passed Senator Patterson’s ‘inhuman’ bill on Tuesday 7th November 2006 by 34 to 32 votes. The House of Representatives is to make a decision on this Bill in the coming days.
“I urge all those who care about human life to make a stand for human life and sound ethical science,” said Dr Gordon Moyes.
You can make a stand for life by contacting your federal MP, as well as the Prime Minister the Treasurer and the Opposition Leader, to urge them to jettison this attempt to legalise human cloning and the creation of human embryos for destructive research.
