CDP’s shonky prophet condemned

I have written before about how readers should be wary of a Pentecostal pastor who sees himself as God’s prophet. His prophecies are inevitably wrong. But he has been frequently promoted and invited to CDP meetings by Rev Fred Nile and praised greatly for his anti Islamic statements. One obvious shonky prophecy is one you will remember when Danny wrote:

“The Lord told me to spend some personal time with Prime Minister John Howard and to prophetically prepare Federal Treasurer Peter Costello as the future Prime Minister of Australia. (I don’t know the exact timing, but I was obedient to the voice of God.) I thank the Lord that I just had a one to one meeting with Peter Costello on Thursday 9th August and John Howard on Friday 10th August. The Lord had given me a clear prophetic Word for both of them and I thank Him I was able to deliver His Word in addition to praying with both of these Federal Government Leaders. Unfortunately, I’m not at liberty to share the details of these private encounters, but I will boldly declare that Prime Minister John Howard will be re-elected in the November election (if the Body of Christ unites in prayer and action) and pass the leadership on to Peter Costello sometime after.”

At the time of revealing the above, I was castigated by a number of CDP writers and members of the CDP Management Committee, about not believing and supporting him. I printed some of these letters. I wrote two crossbench comments in 2007 entitled, “Anointing the next Prime Minister” and “So much for false prophecy”.

The CDP office released a number of Press Releases in November and December 2006 from Rev Fred Nile supporting Nalliah, and “Two Very Important Prophetic Revelations to Pastor Danny Nalliah” in July 2007. Danny Nalliah was invited to speak at Rev Nile’s rallies in November and December 2006. Now Danny Nalliah has blamed the Victorian Bushfires, and the resultant loss of life, on the Victorian Parliament’s passing of pro-Abortion Bills. This has led to widespread condemnation of Nalliah and also the Christian Church for holding such attitudes.

Philip L. Powell, of Christian Witness Ministries (CWM), an organization that keeps watch on cults, recently wrote http://www.christian-witness.org/blog:

“Very sadly the man and Pentecostal Church that we have many times issued warning about, Danny Nalliah and Catch-the-Fire (what’s in a name!) Ministries, have issued a public statement claiming that the fires are the result of the Judgment of God upon Victoria for adopting some pro-abortion legislation. Danny Nalliah claims that God showed him this would happen in a dream. Apart from his insensitivity and plain stupidity he, of course, overlooks what our Lord had to say about disasters during the time of His earthly sojourn:

LUKE 13: 1-5: “There were present at that season some who told Him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. “Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

Our Lord’s call to “Repent” comes to us all, including Danny Nalliah who wrongly honoured a known paedophile despite several warnings, and falsely prophesied the return of the Howard Government and the appointment of Peter Costello as the Prime Minister following the last Australian election and later supported the false so called Healing Outpouring under the phoney Todd Bentley who is now disgraced for immorality.

Peter Costello has rebuked Danny Nalliah in The Australian national newspaper. The article dubbed Catch-the-Fire a “Christian cult” which is an apt description. In addition to The Australian article, there is a derisive statement from an Australian Radio host plus a number of aggressive comments that you can read if you click on this link.

Sadly, this will reflect on Christians in general. We support Pastor Bob Cotton who, as you will see from the above link, has distanced himself from CTFM and Danny Nalliah and recommended that people withhold payment to their cause. Long ago, CWM issued warnings that Danny Nalliah would do the Christian cause great harm with his grandstanding and his grandiose ideas about himself.

With typical opportunism Assemblies of God (AoG) – repackaged as Australian Christian Churches (ACC) – officials have distanced themselves from Danny Nalliah and Catch the Fire Ministries. In response to an inquiry, the ACC National Office issued an email stating that Danny Nalliah with his comments relating the bush fires to the abortion laws does not represent the ACC. They admit that Danny held a specialised ministries certificate with AoG but claim that he no longer holds that certificate. One can only wonder if he has been “disciplined” on account of the recent events.
