Protecting the right of children to be raised by a mother and father

The Hon. Linda Burney, Minister for Community Services, will be responding to the Legislative Council’s Inquiry into Adoption by Homosexual Couples no later than the 8th of January 2010. We have had a wonderful response so far from the NSW church community with many hundreds of completed petitions received and presented to the Parliament last week, and many more still arriving each day which will be presented in February when Parliament resumes.

I am writing today to alert you to the situation, as it is vital that New South Wales citizens press home the case to the Government that the NSW Adoption Act should not be amended to provide the ‘right’ to homosexual couples to adopt children, and to ensure that the status quo is maintained.

The best thing to do would be for everyone who is concerned with this issue to be encouraged to write a few lines to the new Premier, the Hon. Kristina Keneally, to their local state MP, and to the Hon. Linda Burney, all at NSW Parliament House, Macquarie Street, Sydney 2000, telling them what their stand on this issue is.

Handwritten letters carry a lot more weight than emails, so that would be the best option. The homosexual lobby is very powerful, and now is the time for ordinary people to mobilise to keep them from getting their way in this crucial matter regarding the children of the future.

Please encourage your congregations to write letters in support of traditional family values, and against gay adoption. Family First NSW is deeply committed to supporting family values, and hopes to be registered for the next state election. I would appreciate your moral support!

Rev the Hon. Dr Gordon Moyes AC MLC
