Latest poll figures alarm Christians
A trusted source has revealed the most recent polling for the March State Election. The polls alarm Christians who understand the consequences.
I was shown the result of the poll by a trusted insider. I believe them to be more accurate than those published in the newspapers.
As expected by everyone, in the House of Assembly, the Labor Party will be decimated. Kristina Keneally has done a good job getting her party together after her two predecessors were deposed. But her party will force her to stand down as leader of the ALP in May to allow John Robertson to be elected. Also, 24 current ALP MPs will not be standing for this election. The Liberal/National Parties will sweep into power (55 to 37 seats) with Barry O’Farrell elected as the new Premier.
In the Upper House, where all legislation is reviewed and debated in detail, and unless approved no legislation is possible, the picture is not so good for the Coalition Parties. With only half the 42 members having to stand each election, the Labor Party is already in a good position with remaining members.
It is expected that Labor will lose one seat to the Greens Party which will then have five members. That means that Labor will have 18 seats, the Greens will have 5, the Coalition at best will have 15, the Shooters & Fishers Party will have 2 and Christian Democratic Party and Family First Party will have 2 seats.
Even if the Coalition has the support of Shooters and CDP (and last year they mostly voted with Labor), that’s only 19. Hence the Greens Party will hold the balance of power.
The only possible way to stop the Greens having the balance of power is for the Coalition to win one more, and the CDP/FF to have a total of 3. That is, they have to hold current numbers, and win one more.
In that scenario, Labor will have 16 seats, Greens will have 5, Coalition will have 16, Shooters & Fishers will have 2 and CDP/FF will have 3. Even then, a Coalition/Shooters/CDP/FF group will have only 21 votes.
It is absolutely imperative for this to work for the CDP and FF to do a preference swap and to this end, I will be proposing that Family First assign its preferences to the CDP.
The only problem is that the Polls indicate the CDP candidate will not be elected.
But unless the Christian Democratic Party and Family First each get their main candidate elected, then the Greens Party will have the power.
The Greens Party have strong policies about ending religious education in Public schools, ending public funding for Christian schools, empowering gay marriage, ending Christian prayers in Parliament, ending the right of church offices, schools and retirement villages to employ only people demonstrating Christian beliefs and life style, ending rate exemptions for church related property and so on.
Christian people must realise that the Greens Party is about major social secular change, not the environment as first promoted. In any future vote by conscience the extreme left will still have a majority (22 to 20).
As Parliamentary Leader of Family First, I will be outlining all of these issues as well as policies that impact each local electorate at a special community gathering at Maitland on 1 February 2011 at 7.30pm.
I do hope you will encourage your church and all Christians to attend.
Yours sincerely,
REV THE HON DR GORDON MOYES AC MLC
