My Vote Counts Mr Morgan!

For many years the Christian Democratic Party has been ignored by political pollsters. That is why Rev Hon Dr Gordon Moyes has launched a campaign to be recognised in the NSW political polling as a significant political force in this state.

Periodically Roy Morgan Research report the percentage of first preference support in NSW for the ALP, Liberals-Nationals, Greens, Australian Democrats, Family First, and One Nation.

But where is the Christian Democratic Party? In NSW, the Democrats poll about 1%, Family First 2%, and One Nation 1%. In the last NSW Legislative Council election Dr Moyes received well over 3% of the primary vote, and in many areas of the state we receive greater support than the Greens. In the recent Pittwater by-election Patricia Giles received 8.13% of the vote. We are without a shadow of a doubt NSW’s fifth strongest political party – and we are sick of being ignored.

The unfortunate reality is that while we continue to be relegated to the ‘Independent Candidates and Other Parties’ column, we will remain a ineffectual force in the eyes of many voters and look static in the elections. Despite our significant levels of support it is almost as if publicly some people don’t want to acknowledge we even exist.

The people of NSW need to be told the truth, that the Christian Democratic Party is a strong, dynamic and growing party, eager to represent them. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to track our successes and continued growth by following the Morgan polls?

Roy Morgan’s company is currently not listening to us. They are intent on ignoring the vote the tens of thousands of citizens of NSW. So I urge all the people of NSW who vote first for the Christian Democratic Party to send an email or letter to the company to stop unjustly ignoring their vote, as if they didn’t exist. It’s simply not democratic. Continue to email the company until we see a result.
